Corfu Motorcycle Club

The new Corfu Motorcycle Club was created by a group of friends who share a love of motorcycles and is open to all people who share the same love. Common aims and targets of the Club include the improvement of motorcycling skills, tackling problems that motorcyclists face and forging ties with motorcyclists and motorcycle aficionados. In addition, another aim is the active involvement of the club in our island’s community and life not only in terms of the rights of motorcycle riders but also contributing towards society as a whole.

MELANOMA

Melanoma is a malignant tumor of melanocytes (also known as skin melanoma, malignant melanoma).

Melanoma is a very serious disease because it can lead to metastasis to other organs of the body mainly through the lymphatic system. This system consists of thin arteries which create a network just like coronary arteries in all tissues of the body. Tumor cells are detached from the primary tumor and reach lymph nodes through the lymph (the fluid in the lymphatic arteries). Lymph nodes are mainly located in the underarm, neck, groin and belly areas. Surgeons usually remove lymph nodes to see if they include tumor cells.

Transport has always been a fundamental human need and the carriage is one of the oldest modes of transport. The creation of the carriage coincides with the invention of the wheel and it seems that the people of Mesopotamia, the Sumerians and the Hittites were the first to use it. In ancient Greece, the commonest type of carriage was the chariot. In modern times, the carriage was used specifically as a means of transport until the spread of rail networks. Nowadays, however, it is used as a traditional means of transport especially for rides and sight-seeing tours around landmarks such as those in Corfu.

Diaplo: a beautiful islet of the Diapontia Islands

The Diapontia islands are a complex of small islands, islets and big rocks located at the north of Corfu, at the transitional marine zone where the Ionian Sea meets the Adriatic.

Diaplo is the third biggest islet of the Diapondia Islands (among Othoni, Erikousa and Mathraki which have permanent residents) and administratively belongs to Mathraki.

The whole islet is covered in brush that makes way to a few narrow pathways that lead to different parts of the islet’s coast.
